The Cacula Creche and the Community Center in Julio Otoni “favela” in Santa Teresa, Rio de Janeiro, offer programs to children between the ages of 4 and 15.  These programs promote growth and development in a new generation of Brazilian citizens.

The goal of the campaign, “Adopt the Development of a Child” is to guarantee the community’s continued free access to classes in art, computer science,  environmental studies, English and nutrition.

Thanks to financial support from various partnerships, residents of Julio Otoni themselves were able to run the activities in both centers.

The challenge of 2009 is to maintain the established infrastructure in order to continue with these beneficial projects.
